'There ain't nobody who can sing like me,' Cara Luft and JD Edwards howl, over a thumping bass drum and banjo, on their punchy cover of Woody Guthrie's 'Way Over Yonder In The Minor Key', and they could be right. Cara Luft was co-founder of Canadian folksters the Wailin' Jenny's, and teaming up with multi-instrumentalist JD Edwards, has produced as album that never seems to pause for a breath. Handclaps and Cara's claw-hammer banjo introduce the eerie 'Had I Paid' and when JD gets to from the show on 'Something to Hold Onto', his raw vocals are a treat. There's no shortage of duos out there, but on this showing, The Small Glories have more clout than most. JP
